For the last few years I have focused on Hack Oldham, a non profit co-working and maker space in Oldham, what started out as a tiny little group grew into something much larger with the the move into the former Wahoo building on Yorkshire Street.

As you have probably seen we have been beset with delays eventually opening 6 months late and then spending the first 6 months troubleshooting the building which to this date still has issues.

I always knew taking a leap of this scale was going to be difficult, and we knew we were operating on a shoestring budget, however the delays and other issues have hit us hard and we’re not where we need to be financially at this point.

This means I have to assume that at the end of the current financial year (approx 3 months from now) my role will revert back to one that is voluntary and as such I’m going to have to prepare for that.

Unfortunately this means I am going to have to cut back on the number of hours I’m volunteering for Hack Oldham, which to date has been amounting to 12 hours or more per week. Hopefully some of the other members/volunteers will be able to pick up the slack and we shouldn’t have to stop too many events however as I am faced with uncertainty I have to put myself and my family first and focus my spare time on what happens next.

Can we help?
