Today I volunteers as a dragon for the National Citizenship Service, this is a scheme that sees young people take part in a wide range of projects including fundraising to run their own projects.  Part of this was a dragons den pitch where they pitched their proposal to a panel of local businesses who would then decide how a small pot of funding was allocated.

We saw a range of ideas proposed ranging from a library reading group to a Christmas soup kitchen for the homeless, all very laudable causes and passionate pitches that made making our decision quite difficult but we got their in the end. Each team was given a few minutes to pitch followed by some fairly tough questioning from local business leaders who then took a break to make their decision.

Once decisions were made, feedback was given to each of the groups and the financial awards made. Having experienced this once I’d be more than happy to do it again, a great way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon and I look forward to the next one being held in Oldham.

Can we help?
