I’ve had the idea of doing something with CheerLights for quite some time and finally came up with a project to make use of it.
For those who don’t know CheerLights is an IoT project that synchronises the colour of lights connected to the internet by monitoring twitter for given pre-defined phrases. Simply put if you were to tweet “@cheerlights blue” every light connected to the internet worldwide would turn blue.
So back to my build used a cinematic message board which I found in The Works and ESP8226 development board and 1 metre of RGB LED’s, the build is actually really simple, the RGB LED’s are hot glued around the edge of the board a small hole in the back of the box allows power to be fed through to the ESP.
That’s all there is to it, simple but effective little IOT project.
